Profile

Yasushi Hirosato is Professor, Center for Global Education and Discovery, Sophia University in Japan, and Managing Director, Sophia Global Education and Discovery Co., Ltd. (Sophia GED) in Thailand. Furthermore, he is Visiting Scholar under the Second Strengthening Higher Education Project administered by the Ministry of Education and Sports, Lao PDR, and serves as Special Advisor to the Director General, Directorate General of Higher Education, and Senior Fellow, Education Research Council, Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, Cambodia. Previously, he served as Special Appointee at the World Bank in the U.S.A., Professor, Graduate School of International Development, Nagoya University in Japan, Principal Education Specialist at the Asian Development Bank in the Philippines. He obtained his B.A. and M.A. from Sophia University in Japan and his Ph.D. from University of Pittsburgh in the U.S.A. His main research and professional interests are the political economy of education reforms in developing countries, and higher education development and cooperation in Southeast Asia.
